Entry Requirements for Botswana

All visitors entering Botswana must hold a passport that is valid for at least 6 months.  Certain countries require a visa in order to enter Botswana.  Please contact our nearest travel agents for up-to-date information regarding this.

Botswana Currency

Botswana's currency is the Pula (BWP).  

Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Diners Club and credit cards are accepted at most places.

Taxes and Refunds Within Botswana

All goods and services are priced to include value added tax  (VAT) of 12%

On departures non residents may claim VAT refunds on goods purchased, the amount spent should be more than P5 000,00. The following documentation is required : Tax invoice stating VAT paid, your passport numbers and bank account details.

What To Wear in Botswana

  • Dry Seasons (March - October) are very hot - lightweight cotton clothing and a lightweight jacket.  
  • Wet Seasons (November - April) are mild, yet cold in the early evening and mornings - trousers, long-sleeved shirts, pullovers and a very warm jacket.  
  • In general comfortable walking shoes and sandals/slops. Sunhat, sunscreen and aftersun.
